Whether you are facing a particular issue that has become blocked and you are looking for some workable solutions, are facing a dispute and want to plan through it, or need to find a resolution, or are facing union recognition requests, then we should talk.

Modernise agreements and working practices

Tactical and strategic advice to identify the options, assess the risk, and then plan out the approach. This work can be key to unlocking efficiency and improvements in productivity, enabling the organisation to meet its objectives.

Upskill managers and/or HR teams

Developing the confidence, competence and skills of managers and HR people who are responsible for negotiations or interactions with unions and employee representatives through a bespoke one-day workshop delivered on-site or 1:1 coaching for key individuals.

Bringing value through delivering change and managing risk

Trying to change, modernise or improve anything relating to collective agreements and relationships with union/s can often feel daunting, if not completely impossible. It can be time-consuming and can bring risk, so it’s often left well alone. However, it needn’t be avoided until the pain becomes unbearable

Some common challenges employers face

  • Outdated collective agreements and policies that aren’t fit for purpose or reflect the shape or nature of the current organisation.
  • Change being almost impossible without conflict or the expectation of money.
  • Managers not wanting to deal with or involve the union due to a lack of confidence or not seeing the value.
  • HR spending a disproportionate amount of time on union related issues and/or grievances and difficult relationships.
  • Being pleased to just get from one day to the next without disruption rather than having a medium or long-term plan for change.
